March 4, 2010 Meeting Minutes
President Marilyn Vordenbaum called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance for the 28 members and guests present. Minutes of the previous meeting were taken by Ruthie Guida and e-mailed to the membership. They were accepted with no additions or corrections.
Harvey Vordenbaum gave the Treasurer’s report, a brief synopsis of which follows:
February beginning balance $2,886.72
Income $206.00
Expenditures $68.07
Present balance $3,024.65
Harvey Vordenbaum reported the new repeater and an antenna surge suppressor have been installed and are working per specifications. We need to have a work day at the repeater site and a signup sheet will be available at the April meeting along with the selected date.
Bob Richie will be unavailable to conduct the 2 meter net on March 15 and will need someone to stand in for him.
The program for the April meeting on transmitters will be presented by Bill Tynan and Fred Gilmore will give a presentation on ARES at the May meeting.
President Marilyn Vordenbaum announced that club nametags are available for $8.70, prepaid. See her if you are interested in a club nametag. The club will receive a rebate from ARRL for new membership in ARRL or renewals if a previous member has not paid ARRL dues for more than two years. President Vordenbaum urged members to check out information on ARES at the ARRL website.
Chuck Brainard gave a brief update on the LBJ bike tour and distributed magnetic vehicle door signs for those who had signed up. We have all required positions filled but others are welcomed to participate. Contact Chuck for details

The Belton Hamfest will be held on April 17 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for those interested in attending. You can find further information at <http://www.tarc.org/hamexpo/> .
Robert Russell made a pitch for technician and general class operators to upgrade their licenses and sent around a signup sheet. Six members indicated an interest in upgrading to either general or extra class.
Curtis Eastwood announced that Skywarn training will be held March 6 in Fredericksburg. Local weather forecaster Carey Burgess will present the training again this year.
Bill Tynan announced the Roadrunner Microwave group will meet in Kerrville on March 14. Contact Bill for further information.

If you are a blood donor you can donate in the name of the Hill Country Amateur Radio Club to bank credits to club members who may require blood products from the blood bank.
After a short break Kerry Sandstrom presented part 2 of a program on receivers. He covered image rejection, selectivity, and dynamic range.
Bob Richie won the 50/50 drawing and donated the $15 winnings to the repeater fund.
